Network Vulnerability Assessment Tools (DS3IA645)
Course Content: The course is designed to familiarize students with concepts of vulnerability assessment and management using vulnerability assessment tools currently being used on both commercial and DoD networks. In a "hands-on" lab environment, students install, configure, and use eEye RetinaŽ, Internet Security Systems Internet ScannerŽ (IS), and Symantec Enterprise Security ManagerŽ (ESM). Students mitigate vulnerabilities identified by use of these tools and generate technical and executive levels reports. Students will also become familiar with legal issues and rules of engagement related to performing vulnerability assessments. The course provides current USAF vulnerability assessment tool policy and certifies students as operators of the Air Force's network security tools.
Prerequisites: There are no mandatory prerequisites
for this course, however, it is desirable that students have
a basic understanding of computer PC operations.
Class Size: There is a minimum class size
of eight (8) and a maximum number of ten (10) students for
each class offered.
