Key Personnel
Christian Espinosa, Director of Research and Development
Mr. Espinosa is the Research and Development Director for EADS NA DS3. He has over 15 years experience in Information Security. Christian graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Engineering. While serving in the Air Force as a Communications Officer, he attended night and weekend classes at Webster University. Christian graduated Webster University as a Distinguished Graduate with an MBA in Computer and Information Management in 1996.
Mr. Espinosa's first assignment with the Air Force was as Systems Branch Chief at Brooks AFB, Texas where he managed 14 personnel in support of a 500 node network. In 1996, Christian took a Network Engineering position at Scott AFB, IL. As a Network Engineer for Air Mobility Command (AMC), Christian designed and installed numerous networks, including the AMC Terminals for BWI and Seattle-Tacoma International Airports. During this time Christian completed his Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and started teaching night and weekend MCSE Courses for the Center for Training Innovations. Christian also became an Adjunct Faculty member for Southwestern Illinois College where he taught Operating Systems, Networking, Security, and Systems Analysis & Design courses.
Mr. Espinosa separated from Active Duty in 1999 and took a job with CHM, Inc. as a Senior Security Engineer in Scope Network. As one of the founding members of Scope Network, Christian was instrumental in establishing many procedures for network and security review and optimization. While working with Scope Network, Christian traveled to over 50 locations worldwide to optimize and secure Air Force networks. Between trips, Christian became a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) and established a Microsoft Certified Technical Education Center as a partnership between CHM, Inc., and Southwestern Illinois College. CHM, Inc. recognized Christian as the Employee of the Year in 2001.
Mr. Espinosa left CHM, Inc., in 2002 and started work with ARC Information Assurance Institute, Inc. as a Senior Information Security Consultant. As one of the original members for the Computer Network Defense contract, Christian was instrumental with the original simulation and defense training concepts for the Joint Cyber Operations Range. Once this contract became established, Christian decided to pursue a job with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) as a Network Information Assurance Officer, responsible for the security of the Global Information Grid for the Department of Defense. In 2005, Christian took a position with DS3 as the Chief Engineer for Global Operations. As Chief Engineer, Christian was instrumental in the development of the Computer Network Defense block of the Air Force Undergraduate Network Warfare Training (UNWT) School.
Mr. Espinosa has 15 industry certifications, including the CISSP, MCSE, CCSP, MCT, and CFSO. Christian is currently pursuing a Ph. D. in Information Security through Northcentral University. His dissertation is in progress and he expects to graduate in 2010. In his leisure time Christian enjoys skydiving, Ironman triathlons, adventure racing, yoga, P90X, scuba diving, mountain biking, and active travel to exotic locations.
